Just this month two news hit us in the Asia region. One was the high-profile homosexual marriage between Lee Hsien Yang’s son in South Africa. The other news was the legalising of same-sex union in Taiwan. Taiwan is the first Asian country to do so. Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen tweeted, “On May 17th, 2019 in #Taiwan, #LoveWon. We took a big step towards true equality, and made Taiwan a better country.”
To many people, even among some Christians, there is a sense of progress and equality in society. I don’t think it is progress. It is a regress. Society is sliding deeper and deeper into the end times where people are more brazenly sinning and don’t think it’s wrong. God condemns all homosexual behaviour and upholds heterosexual marriage between a male and female. When a country destroys or perverts God’s institution of marriage, it goes downhill. God will not bless them any longer.
Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed for their homosexual behaviour. In Romans 1, Paul highlights the utter depravity that mankind has descended into. Because mankind has rejected God, He gave them over to sexual impurity, to shameful lusts (homosexuality) and a depraved mind. Therefore, I say it again clearly: Homosexuality is a sin before God and they need to repent. Homosexual marriage is a sin before God and they need to repent. God’s standards will not change. He is full of love and also full of wrath. I pray that many homosexuals will repent of their sinful behaviour and that as a nation we will uphold God’s standards.
Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Cor 6:9-11
The Bible clearly says those who practice homosexuality will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But look carefully at the following phrase: “Some of you were once like that.” Some of the Corinthians though practicing homosexuals were cleansed, made holy, made right with God when they accepted Jesus as their Saviour! There is hope. Jesus can forgive the sin of homosexuality and change the person to become a heterosexual. I know, some same-sex attraction individuals don’t get healed (e.g. Wesley Hill) but they live celibate lives in obedience to God. There is hope in Jesus Christ who died to give us victory over sin.
