Praying the Psalms

Image result for person praying

Praying with Scripture is one of most blessed things we can do. The Psalms capture a whole range of emotions in beautiful words that we find hard express.

The writers all have experienced sadness, joy, anger, depression and awe. When we feel the same way, we can use the words in our prayers! What a burden is lifted from us.

Try this the next time you pray with the Psalms. Replace “I, you, my” with your name. Try it with Psalm 23.

Psalms 23:1
The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

Change to: The Lord is Seth’s shepherd, Seth lacks nothing.

As you insert your name, it becomes a personal word to God. A shout out to the world. And you also begin to reflect if you believe those truths.
