Just Start Believing!

My church band has decided to play a song presentation for a special event. Interestingly, our leader suggested the song ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by Journey. Yeah!

However, since we’re going to play it in church, we have to find some Christian lyrics to replace it.

Ta da! I’ve found a re-song (if there’s such a word) by James Ellis Gordon where he changed the lyrics to present the heartbreak and ill-effects of sin in this fallen world. However, Jesus came to save us and we have to JUST START BELIEVING! Our lives will be changed.

‘Just Start Believing’
Christian Lyrics by James Ellis Gordon ©2011
Original Song ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by Jonathan Cain, Steve Perry, Neal Schon
Disclaimer: I do not own the original song; this is merely my version of it; no copyright infringement intended.[Verse 1]
Just a sinful girl, living in a fallen world
She feels her life is not going anywhere
Just a sin filled boy, born and raised without the LORD
He tried to take his life to escape this world

[Verse 2]
A hooker in a hotel room, a sense of shame is all she knew
But she thought if she’d smile she’d win, her sin goes on and on and on and on

[Pre-Chorus]
Sinners wasting, shunning all the good God gave them
Their spirits searching for eternal life
Sinful, people, live and die for earthly pleasure
Spirits, cry out for the Christ

[Verse 3]
She’s working hard to buy the pill, she says she only wants the thrill
But then abortion comes around again, another baby down
Some will weep, lose their sleep, others won’t even lose their peace
Oh, it seems like sin would never end; but it goes on and on and on and on

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]
Just start believing Jesus is the One worth seeking
He saves people
Just start believing Jesus is
He’s your Savior
Just start believing Jesus is the One with healing
He’s your Salvation

[Ending]
Just start believing

“He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.” ~Psalm 40:2
